Tools

Tools are highly effective to put complex issues in perspective. They provide insight and data that help make sensible decisions. Impaqtum uses a number of tools that shed light on relevant retail ready and transport packaging issues.

Impaqtum tools are either standard industry tools, or based on collaborative approaches and data. It does not do to start a project or do an analysis based on a black box nobody understands. Nevertheless, some tools do require a considerable number of data and fairly good comprehension of pack performance issues in the retail chain.

SRP Scoring

ECR / GS1 based tool to evaluate RRP / SRP instore performances based on 5 Easy's, sub divided into 30+ different criteria. The tool is meant to score boxes and categories/portfolios for relevance and conformity:

  • Easy Identification
  • Easy Open
  • Easy Shelf
  • Easy Shop
  • Easy Dispose

The tool returns scores per category (Easy) or an overall score. It is particularly good to identify flaws of specific designs, or compare pack alternatives.

Funqtionare

An easy to understand tool to analyse and compare functional performances of packaging alternatives Define performance criteria and rate on a comparative scale. The result is plotted in a spiderweb diagram that provides immediate insight for decisions and direction of further development.

Functionator is more flexible in it's use than SRP Scoring, since the criteria are not predefined. Hence the tool can be used to score not only instore performance, but cover the entire supply chain and balance interests between stakeholders.

Impaqtor

Cost impact analysis of packaging in from start to finish in the supply chain. The tool analysis and compares all relevant costs related to packaging, using activity based costing. The method provides deep insight in type, place and root causes of costs and benefits. Not the package itself, but the way it interacts with structure and practices in the supply chain are the real sources of costs - and potential savings. The tool demonstrates clearly how fundamental decisions impact not only absolute supply chain costs - but also how these are distributed, in short: who pays. Quite often amazing to see how minor changes can cause a huge shift in costs; or how massive savings by one party generate huge oncosts elsewhere, with a doubtful net effect for the supply chain.

Impaqtor is valuable instrument to steer discussions and support decisions, not only on packaging, but on distribution and merchandising practices as well. In many cases this broadens the base for investment planning, especially where new equipment is involved. Scenario analysis provides the means to test alternatives virtually. This gives direction, not only to internal decisions, but for design briefings as well.

Pallet & Load Optimisation

Utilisation of available space can be a significant cost driver in distribution. Impaqtum advocates the use of commercially available standard software for dimensional optimisation. Pallet loads, mixed items, truckfill or container loads can be calculated for various purposes.

Impaqtum can do basic calculations, help you select software and support implementation by means of training and support.
